The Lucas family welcomed Jake into their family on April 26, 2012. He was adopted from Illinois Valley Animal Rescue, after he had been found alone on the docks at the Illinois River. On May 11, 2018, their hearts were broken when he died on the way to the vet after suddenly collapsing that afternoon.
When he came he home, Jake explored his new home and gathered all of the toys and stuffed animals he could find, stashing them behind the couch where he slept. His favorite toys were the panda and soft football. Jake always wagged his tail and was never mean or growled at anyone or anything. He loved his entire family, young and old; especially his mom, Robin and often slept behind the couch if she was there or behind the bed at night. Jake's job was to watch the front door, while his Golden Retriever brother, Duke watched the back door. He loved snacking on carmelcorn and bacon treats and playing fetch, digging in the yard, chasing a flashlight beam or trying to get a drink from the sprinkler.
He leaves behind his human family: mom and dad, Robin and Mark Lucas; his uncles Matt and DJ and aunts Kati and Ashley and their kids, Jarrett, Karli, Kylie and Mya; and his animal family: brother Duke; cousins, dogs: Jack, Teryn, Ozzie, Laney, Lucky and cat: Sonny
He will never be forgotten.
